A new eating style has been sweeping the streets of America: food trucks. For years, street food has added an integral flavor to the city streets in many urban neighborhoods. But recently, these push cart street vendors have evolved into something much greater: the food truck. These mobile kitchens have become the latest craze.
So what is the secret to food truck frenzy? Why have they become so vastly popular? They’re fun, informal, fast and cheep. As Tyler Florence—a celebrity chef and host of Food Network's The Great Food Truck Race- says, "It's fantastic food at a price everyone wants. And you don't have to make reservations."
Obviously, there is no address for these eateries. But these trucks have been able to maintain a following, as the loyal fans are able to track down the truck’s whereabouts on social networking sites such as twitter and face book.
And now this latest trend has spread to the world of Kosher food as well.
Quick Stop Kosher truck , run by Ari Thaler, is a food truck that can found on the streets of midtown Manhattan. Their menu includes: Paninis, Tuna Sandwiches, Falafel (of Moshe’s Falafel), and Belgian Waffles.
The workers on the truck are trained to work quickly- to be able to keep up with the fast past of the city. They are serving people that have short lunch breaks- people who don’t have time to wait. They need their food quickly.
All the workers on the truck have had full training on the system,” says Ari, “to keep things efficient. The key is fast, and fresh.”

Taïm Mobile, is another Kosher food truck that can be found roaming the streets of New York City. It is run by a husband and wife team- Einat Admony & Stefan Nafziger. Their menu includes: falafel, sides, Middle Eastern salads, smoothies, and homemade drinks.
“Food trucks have really stepped up their game in the past few years,” says Einat, “and we thought it was time to take our amazing (and kosher !) falafels and smoothies to the streets of NYC !”
David of Taim Mobile shares a kitchen tip. He stresses the importance of utilizing the space in a kitchen. You don’t need a big kitchen to work efficiently. It is just a matter of using every inch of your kitchen wisely. As he says, "In a food truck, every inch of space is vital, and must be used in the best way possible!"
So if you are in Midtown Manhattan, and want a quick bit- just keep walking the city streets- it is almost harder to find a truck that doesn’t serve lunch!
