SUSIE FISHBEIN
Susie Fishbein, author of the Kosher by Design cookbook series, has already sold over 400,000 copies worldwide and has been named one of the 50 most influential Jews by the Forward. Susie is currently working on her next cookbook, Kosher by Design Cooking Coach.
Susie is here to tell us her LAST LICKS…
I am finishing up the recipes for my next cookbook. Kosher by Design Cooking Coach and am obsessed with a Chili Garlic Cauliflower that I can't get just right. I am on version #6, batch #13. Mistakes can be yummy too.
Ouch. Purim just ended, sensitive subject.
Roasted Kale. I am not trying to make amends for the junk food question, it's just that I finished working on a kale recipe for Cooking Coach so I have a lot of leftovers and am finding them addictive, like potato chips, only so much healthier.
For my third daughter's bat mitzvah this past summer, my extended family visited Spain and Portugal on a Jewish heritage trip.
A Thermopen instant-read thermometer. Pricey but really accurate, and I need accuracy for developing the recipes for my new book.
My family was walking around Westfield NJ a few Sundays ago on a gorgeous day. We happened upon an art gallery that featured my favorite local artist, Helen Frank. My husband and daughters spotted a stunning painting of a kitchen table which had perfect colors for my den. We knew just the perfect spot to hang where it would peek out perfectly to my own kitchen table. In 20 years we have only bought 4 pieces of art but this one was so perfect we made a group decision and decided right on the spot.
A hockey glove for my son. I am a huge Amazon shopper. I buy everything from household items to gourmet food products.
There is a fabulous store near me called CBL Fine Arts which specializes in unique gifts. For my parent's 50th anniversary, my siblings and I created a memory vase from there of our family photos that get etched onto glass. It is so beautiful.
Last? I am focused on the next! Seder for 25, the ultimate dinner party. My brother-in-law Clint, teases me that he wants to auction off his seat at my seder table on Ebay.

I am the person who Kashers the kitchen of our Synagogue so we can prepare a Kosher Passover meal for 65 attendees. This might not sound like many, but down here in the South, it is a staggering number! Our entire congregation -- including the 'extended' family members is just barely 150! I began this task yesterday, so the food that will be prepared next week can be stored in the kitchen. I put a whole chicken in a marinade of olive oil, grated lime peel and ginger at 6am. When I got home, at 5pm, I put it on the rotisserie of the BBQ. At 630pm, voila! It was a wonderful meal, along with the slices of squash and zuchinni that I'd placed on the grill! Leftovers tomorrow will be even better!
Blueberry pancakes from Kosher by Design Kids in the Kitchen
Thanks for this awesome article! I'm a big Susie fan, and I thought I was the only one around without this cookbook. I cooked turkey cutlets shmeared with a mixture of dijon, apricot preserves, and san-j asian bbq sauce. That got 3 bottles out of the fridge! (And it smells pretty good.) Chag Sameach everyone!
Egg rolls and farfel with roasted veggies.
Oh wow..Cappuchino, can you post your egg roll recipe? I'd love to see how you cook that ;)
Oatmeal and molasses for breakfast, and I'm getting ready to make some pudding w/cherry reduction sauce for Shabbat breakfast tomorrow!

I just made 2 briskets, a delmonico roast and chuck steaks in the oven together while cooking matzah balls on top of the stove. All for Pesach.
Simple meal on Friday night, meat loaf with rosemary roasted potatoes and sweet peas in the pod. Wish you all a chag Pesach, a sweet and kosher holiday.
can it be something i baked?? or does it have to be cooked?? ;)
Yup, it's Tuesday, 2 days to Passover, and I just finished preparing a delicious dinner. Chicken cutlets breaded in crumbs, asparagus and potatoes in dressing. That's it for the bread! On to Passover food we go!
Veggie burgers on rolls and potato chips. (Yes, I'm trying to get rid of the chometz, too.) Oh, and a green salad just to make it a little healthier. That's IT! As of tomorrow, we're pesachdik.
one pot/ foil pan dinner: chicken, potatoes and veggies in duck sauce. real lazy erev yom tov supper
Last thing I cooked was scrambled eggs for my children and grandchildren for Chol Hamoed breakfast. This happens daily every year on Chol Hamoed. I guess this has become part of our Yom Tov celebration.
