Warm-from-the-oven baked fruit streusel, a perfect partner for vanilla ice cream topping. The only way to describe this dish is outrageous and fabulous. It makes a stunning presentation and looks like you spent a lot of time in the kitchen. This is one of the easiest, fastest desserts I've ever made. Try it- you will get loads of compliments!

  • - Streusel Topping:

  • ½ cup dried bread crumbs

  • ½ cup all purpose flour

  • ⅓ cup sugar

  • ½ cup margarine/ 1 stick

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ cup walnuts, finely chopped

  • - Fruit Filling:

  • 1 (29 oz) can sliced pears

  • 2 (28 oz) can sliced peaches

  • 3 Tbsp flour

  1. In mixer or by hand, beat streusel topping-beside the walnuts- at low speed, until well blended and large crumbs form. Stir in the walnuts by hand. Set aside.

  2. Drain syrup from peach and pear slices. Reserve 1/2 cup syrup-any. Reserve some peach slices for garnish. If you only have pear halves- simply slice them into slices.

  3. In large bowl, mix fruit with cinnamon and flour. Spoon mixture into 1 large pyrex pie pan or 12 mini glass ramekins. Pour reserved syrup over fruit. If you are baking mini glass pans, place them on a jelly-roll pan for easier handling. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes-until topping is brown. Freezes well

  4. To serve: Top each warm dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream; garnish with a thin peach slice. (Cut the sliced peaches into thinner slices)

The recipe was quick to put together. It was a little too sweet for my family but we enjoyed it still.

I made this for desert on friday night. I did it with peaches only as the store was out of pear cans - it was delicious! I really liked the tangy flavor that the peaches gave, so different from the usual apple crumble.
be careful not to add too much of the juice over the fruit - I did that and a little came oozing out over the crumbs.

I love serving this when I'm in the mood of a warm dessert but I'm tired of apple cobbler. It also takes half the time to prepare.
