This is a 'roll' as in deli 'roll', not as in challah 'roll'! It's a variation on a classic favorite.
1 frozen puff pastry sheet, defr
10 onions, diced
0 oil for frying
½ lb pastrami cold cuts, shredded
1 tsp salt, or to taste
½ tsp pepper, or to taste
2 Tbsp bbq sauce
1 egg, beaten well
0 sesame seeds
Preheat oven to 350.
Sauté onions in a large pan. Saute until they are a nice brown color. Add shredded pastrami to pan and then add salt and pepper to taste.
Unfold puff pastry sheet onto a piece of parchment paper. Roll out dough a little more.
Spread bbq sauce over puff pastry.
Place onion/pastrami mixture over sheet. Roll dough like a jelly roll (or deli roll).
Place seam side down and brush with beaten egg.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until slightly browned and flaking. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
