This is a 'roll' as in deli 'roll', not as in challah 'roll'! It's a variation on a classic favorite.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 frozen puff pastry sheet, defr










  • 10 onions, diced










  • 0 oil for frying










  • ½ lb pastrami cold cuts, shredded










  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste










  • ½ tsp pepper, or to taste










  • 2 Tbsp bbq sauce










  • 1 egg, beaten well










  • 0 sesame seeds










  1. Preheat oven to 350.



  2. Sauté onions in a large pan. Saute until they are a nice brown color. Add shredded pastrami to pan and then add salt and pepper to taste.



  3. Unfold puff pastry sheet onto a piece of parchment paper. Roll out dough a little more.
    Spread bbq sauce over puff pastry.




  4. Place onion/pastrami mixture over sheet. Roll dough like a jelly roll (or deli roll).
    Place seam side down and brush with beaten egg.
    Sprinkle with sesame seeds.




  5. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until slightly browned and flaking. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
