this recipe was inspired by a dish I ate at va bene. delicious and gourmet. makes a good appetizer or main. I like to serve for a milchig supper with a salad.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 Tbsp oil










  • 1 onion










  • 1 can Portobello mushrooms










  • ½ cup Marsala wine










  • 2 cup Water










  • 1 Tbsp chicken soup mix










  • 1 Tbsp flour










  • 1 tsp salt and pepper to taste










  • 6 slices white bread










  • 3 Tbsp butter










  • 1.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese










  1. caramelize onion in oil



  2. add mushrooms and saute for a few minutes



  3. add water, chicken soup mix, flour, Marsala wine, salt add pepper



  4. reduce sauce till about half



  5. butter bread on all sides. sandwich with cheese. bake until cheese is melted and bread is toasted



  6. serve sauce on top of toast
