When I want something dairy and different, but not as time consuming as blintzes, I turn to this recipe. My mother made this as a side dish for dinner every Thursday evening. This tastes great fresh out of the pan. You can add any sauce and serve this as a dessert too.
1 lb farmer cheese
1-2 Tbsp sugar-depending on your sweet tooth
1 Tbsp farina
- unflavored bread crumbs
- oil for frying
Mix by hand all ingredients beside bread crumbs.
In pot, cook up water( without salt ) until it boils. With wet hands , roll balls out of the cheese mixture. Cook in water for a few minutes, turn balls over. Remove with slotted spoon.
Roll cheese balls gently in bread crumbs until coated. Fry in oil and drain well. Serve warm or cold.
