Perfect margarine free sugar cookie recipe rolls amazing and is easy to work with. I use it as my base for hamentashen and chanuka cookies.
1 cup sugar
¾ cup oil
2½ tsp vanilla
2½ tsp baking powder
2 Tbsp orange juice
4 cup flour (plus more - see recipe)
Mix together all ingredients (can be done by hand or with a strong mixture). Add flour as needed to get a dough that is easy to work with. You may need a total of 4 1/2 cups of flour but start with less.
Roll and cut with cookie cutters. Bake cookies at 350 for 8 - 9 minutes or more if cookies are thicker.
For hamentashen shape and fill before baking and bake for about 10 - 12 minutes.
You can paint cookies before baking by mixing an egg yolk with food coloring and pain the cookies with paint brushes.
