This soup is incredible!
½ cup butter
1½ tsp basil
2½ tsp thyme
0 salt, garlic, pepper , oregano- to taste
5 Tbsp flour
½ cup red wine
¼ cup soy sauce
Slice onions and saute in butter on a low flame until onions are transparent.
Add spices and continue sauteing until onions are lightly golden.
Add flour and saute 3 - 5 minutes.
Add water to cover and red wine and soy sauce. Simmer for at least 1 1/2 hours.
To serve: place soup in oven proof crock. Add a slice of toasted garlic bread ans sprinkle cheese on top. Broil until cheese is bubbly and brown.
