¼ tsp pepper
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 Tbsp matzah meal
2 cup flour
1½ tsp baking powder
½ cup water
2 egg yolks
- salted water or soup stock
To prepare filling: heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium - high heat. Add onion and saute. Add beef and cook for 5 min., stirring frequently until brown.
Stir in 1 tsp salt, pepper. egg, and matzah meal. Set aside.
To prepare dough: combine flour, baking powder, remaining 3 Tbsp oil, water, and egg yolks in a large bowl. Kneading until dough forms.
Turn out dough in a floured surface; roll to 1/8 - inch thickness. Cut out 3 inch circles with a cookie cutter or drinking glass.
Place heaping teaspoons of filling in the center if each circle. Moisten edges of dough with water. Fold over three sides of dough to frm a triangle, moistening and gently pressing overlapping dough together.
Heat water or stock in a large soup pot, over high heat. Place kreplach in boiling water and cook approx. 20 min, or until they float to the top. (They can also be fried in oil over medium heat until golden brown on each side)
