This is the classic Chicken Soup, with more of a spicy taste to it. Very easy to make and greatly admired. My family makes it for most shabussim. If you really want to get into the spicy mood, add a bit of Helbeh on top. Adds great taste!

INGREDIENTS













  • 6 Chicken Drumsticks










  • 4 Chicken Thighs










  • 2 Tomatoes/Quarted










  • 10 Garlic Cloves/Peeled










  • 2 Spring Onions/Sliced across










  • 5/6 Cardomon Pods










  • 1 Tbsp Hawaij (Soup Mixture)










  • 2 tsp Turmeric Powder










  • 2 Tbsp Cumin










  1. Put all ingredients into large pot. Fill with cold water until it just covers all ingredients.



  2. Bring to a boil on high, and take off foam foam from top of saucepan.



  3. After boil, reduce to low and simmer, uncovered for 15 mintues.



  4. After, cover and simmer for hour and 45 mintues. Keep an eye on it every so while, and take off foam once in a while. Season with salt and pepper after it's fully cooked. Season to your taste.
