INGREDIENTS













  • 3 eggs










  • 2 Tbsp oil










  • 2 cup flour










  • 2 tsp baking powder










  • 1 lb honey










  • ⅔ cup sugar










  • 1 tsp powdered ginger (optional)










  1. Beat eggs and oil together.



  2. Gradually add flour and baking powder.



  3. Take handfuls of dough and roll to ½ in. diameter.



  4. Cut into ½ in. slices.



  5. In heavy pot combine 1 lb. honey and 2/3 c. sugar (1 tsp. ginger optional).



  6. Boil on LOW flame.



  7. Add dough a few pieces at a time so it keeps on boiling.



  8. Stir to coat.



  9. Cover and cook 20 minutes or until they begin to brown.



  10. Uncover and cook another 5 minutes.



  11. Cool and store in covered container.



  12. May be made 3 days prior to use.

I made this recipe for my Rosh Hashana hosts (yes, we know each other in real life, and she's passed me many of her recipes in the past) and it was such a hit! My husband asks me every year if I'll be making them this year, but when I prepare all yomtov meals I don't have time to make it. But I think I will try to fit it in this coming year.
