INGREDIENTS
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chopped dates
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
2 cup flour
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup chocolate chips
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (185 degrees C.)
Grease 9"x13" pan
Combine liquid, dates and 1 tsp. baking soda & cool to room temperature.
Mix all ingredients, except chocolate chips and nuts.
Pour batter in pan.
Sprinkle with 1 c. chocolate chips and ½ c. chopped walnuts or pecans.
Bake 30 minutes or till cake tests done
In reply to comment below, I've fixed the instructions. It's mayo in place of margarine and eggs, making it delightfully moist!
