INGREDIENTS













  • 3 Tbsp Olive Oil










  • 2 Onions, chopped thinly










  • 4 cloves of garlic










  • 3 tsp Cumin










  • 1½ tsp Turmeric










  • 1 tsp Black Pepper and Salt to taste










  • 2 cup Long Grain Rice, (I suggest persian rice)










  • 4 cup chicken stock










  • 3 Tbsp fresh cilantro leaves (optional)










  1. Heat oil and onion on medium heat until onion is a golden color.



  2. Stir in garlic and spices for 1 minute to coat the onion.



  3. Add the uncooked rice and stir for 3 minutes until everything is coated.



  4. add the stock and bring to a boil.



  5. Change heat to low and simmer covered for 18-20 minutes.



  6. Remove from heat, and let stand covered for 10 minutes.
    Garnish with Cilantro. (Optional)




  7. Enjoy!!!

I made this last Shabbos along with Yemenite Soup, chicken with lentils, and steamed asparagus with mushrooms. It was wonderful! (mix the rice with lentils and it makes a great side served hot or cold)
