Foodie Chanukah Gifts

Written by Leah Schapira on Tuesday, 04 December 2012. Posted in Tips And Tricks

You know that your foodie friend would rather own something she can have fun with in the kitchen vs. another accessory or bottle of perfume. We’ve gathered some of our favorite gadgets to make choosing gifts for your pals that much easier this Chanukah.

For the Serious Cook

Deglon Meeting Knife Set

While I would never spend $800 on a knife, this one is extremely cool, if only for the entertainment value. If you’re too scared to use it for actual cutting, take it out to serve as a conversation piece at your Chanukah party. Or, just read the reviews on Amazon for some fun and laughs. That’s free.

Focus On Food Photography for Bloggers

The Flavor Bible

We recommend these books for serious food lovers. First, almost everyone who loves to cook these days also loves to take photos of their food. Learn the basics and tricks to actually getting those photos looking as good as they taste in Focus on Food Photography. The Flavor Bible is for those who love to get creative and experiment with food. I use it when I’m not sure what to add to my dish. I’ll look up the ingredients I’m already using and it’ll tell me which flavors pair well with it.

Ring Molds

These are the secret to elegant plating today. It’s not just for plating a pillar of rice. The ring mold will help keep any side dish contained to a neat and round area on a plate.

Spider Skimmer

I think the Chinese know a thing or two about frying. It’s time we picked up some tips, like using this gadget. If you’re frying this Chanukah, adding this simple tool to your drawer is a no-brainer.

You Never Knew You Needed

Hot Dogger

A barbecue isn’t the same without hamburgers and hot dogs. Forgot the hot dogs? No problem.

Garlic Rocker

Do your hands also hurt from pressing down a garlic crusher? This actually makes garlic mincing and crushing therapeutic.

CamelBak Better Bottle

Have a friend who hates drinking water? Make it easy for them. The Better Bottle is certainly the laziest way to drink and makes it completely effortless. One of my friends admits that it converted her into a water drinker. With over 1200 rave reviews on Amazon, there must be something in the water...

Batter Dispenser

Do you hate when your cupcakes all come out a different size? Do you make a mess everywhere, trying to spoon the batter into the muffin liners? The batter dispenser shoots out batter neatly and evenly. This way, every cupcake is perfect. Not just the two you want to photograph.

Knork Matte Knorks

Mom might tell you that you haven’t gotten your table setting correct. But you don’t need to know where the knife goes anymore. Because you’ve got a knork.

The 4-Hour Chef

Even if you hate cooking, you’ll love this book. And maybe you’ll change your mind.  Give it to your husband as a gift, then maybe you’ll get a night off once in awhile.

Can’t be Without

Royal VKB Squeeze Bottle

I first saw this by my sister-in-law’s house in the UK. I thought it was the most brilliant dressing dispenser ever. It’s stylish enough to keep on the table, and will keep dressing fresh in the fridge. But most of all, it helps dress salads most efficiently with thin little squirts here and there.

Pizza Cutter

After you buy your pizza stone, get a Zyliss slicer for a perfect pizza night. By far our favorite pizza cutter.

Oxo Mango Pitter

I know, you already have this one. No? What? Why not? Who likes cutting a mongo? Now if they can only invent a pomegranate deseeder.

When Kids are in the Kitchen

Baby Squirt Dispenser

Need to give a belated baby gift? If there’s a mom-with-a-six-month-old in your life, then she’s gotta love this.

Jigsaw Puzzle Cookie Cutter

Lots of people roll out lots of sugar cookie dough over Chanukah. Cookie driedels might be cute, but for your next batch, I think it’s more fun to create a cookie puzzle.
