For many posts I've written, I've spent a few days I'm that city and I've had to condense those days into the best places to eat while visiting. But this time I literally did spend 12 hours in Rio.
Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil. It's famous for it's breathtaking landscape, laid-back beach culture and it's annual carnival.
As beautiful as Rio is, there aren't many kosher choices where to eat
The only dairy restaurant located in Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro is
Deleite. A pizza and pasta cafe.
It only opens late afternoon from 4:00-10:00 pm. You can find some information on their
Facebook page.
Fresh and tasty, the pizza I ate was delicious. Thin and crispy and perhaps the best pizza I've tastes in Brazil. (Soa Paulo pizza has a long way to go until we can actually call it good pizza). You can order some desserts, pastas and salads. There was enough choices for us to return a few times.
Shelanu Bistro is a bistro owned by Chef Roger Najman. Located a couple of blocks down from Delielite in the Copacabana district, the restaurant is only open Thursday nights.
During the week you can order food delivered to most parts of Rio.
Simple and laid back, the restaurant is located on the second floor of building and it's a bit hard to find it if you don't know what you're looking for.
On Thursdays you can also pick up provisions for shabbos such as challah & grape juice
For other kosher inquires it's best to contact the local
Chabad.
