INGREDIENTS













  • 12 oz pepper steak, thinly sliced










  • ¼ cup cornstarch










  • ¼ Tbsp salt










  • 1 pinch black pepper










  • 1 quart oil- for frying










  • 4 Tbsp soy sauce










  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar- or any cooking vinegar










  • ½ Tbsp cooking wine










  • 1½ Tbsp honey










  • 5 Tbsp brown sugar










  • ½ Tbsp chile paste










  • ¼ cup water










  • 3 Tbsp chopped fresh ginger










  • 1 Tbsp oil










  • 2 cloves garlic










  • ¼ cup sliced onion










  • ¼ cup diced red pepper










  1. Heat oil in fryer.



  2. Meanwhile in a bowl, combine cornstarch, salt & pepper together. Mix. Toss the steak slices into the cornstarch mixture and coat.



  3. Deep fry the coated steak slices until golden brown. Remove and set aside.



  4. In another bowl, combine the soy sauce, vinegar, wine & honey. Then add the sugar, chile paste, water and ginger. Mix well. Set aside.



  5. Heat the deep frying with 1 Tbs oil, and quickly saute the onion, garlic and pepper for 30 seconds. And the sauce mixture and the strips of fried beef toss and heat through.

I loved it! It tasted like chinese from a take out store. I'm giving it four stars because my kids didn't eat it and they usually like chinese. I think I need to adjust it a bit for them.
