My husband ate these while drunk one Purim afternoon. When he came to he kept asking me for more of those pretzels. I had no idea what he was talking about or where he ate these "delicious pretzels." I asked around for a few weeks until one neighbor confessed to serving these. Now these are a staple around here.

INGREDIENTS

1 oz yeast

1½ cup warm water

2 Tbsp sugar

1 tsp salt

4 cup flour

1 eggs (for brushing)

1 course salt (for sprinkling)

Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

Allow the dough to "rest" for 1/2 hour.

Divide the dough to 8 equal parts. Roll the dough into a long rope and form a pretzel. Repeat with remaining dough.

Brush the egg on top of the pretzels and sprinkle with course salt.

Bake at 425* for 10 minutes.

It was very good, especially served with honey mustard on the side. I put water on top instead of the egg. It is a very kid friendly recipe as well.

My sis in law made this recipe when I was over at her house the other night... really good! Next time I make it I know I'll be doubling the recipe!

This was a great recipe to make with my kids. I made the dough by hand (used a drop less flour) and I listened to dev advice about rolling it out thinner. It came soft and tasty. I'll definitely be making this again.

Made it tonight, it came out a little too puffy. So next time, I would make it a little thinner and make bigger pretzel holes. It deserves a 6 star rating for the taste.
