Adding cheese or yogurt, to the batter reduce oil absorption of the doughnuts.
1¼ cup flour, self rising
250 gram soft white cheese
2 Tbsp canola oil
¼ cup sugar
- zest of ½ lemon (optional)
1 pinch salt
- oil, for frying
- powdered sugar and strawberry jam for serving
Mix all the ingredients and leave to rest about half an hour.
Heat oil in a cooking pot.
Make small balls with a spoon, roll them in flour and fry until golden.
Serve with powdered sugar or jam.
