These are out of the oven in less then 30 minutes with no mixer needed. They are perfect for winter motzei shabbos treat. Serve with honey mustard.
Can be made with half white and half whole wheat flour.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1½ cup warm water










  • 2¼ tsp instant yeast










  • 1 Tbsp sugar










  • 1 tsp salt










  • 3 cup Flour + 1 extra cup










  • 1 egg










  • - sea salt or pretzel salt










  1. Preheat oven to 425. Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.



  2. Mix water and yeast in bowl for about 1 minute. Add the sugar and salt and stir.



  3. Add 3 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time mixing with a spoon. add up to an additional 3/4 cup of flour until the dough is no longer sticky.



  4. Knead for about 3 minutes, adding more flour as needed.



  5. Divide the dough into about 8 - 12 pieces depending on the size of pretzels you would like. roll the dough into long snakes and then knot into a pretzel shape. (form a circle twist one end around the other and bring ends toward the middle)



  6. Beat the egg in shallow plate, dip both sides of the pretzel into the egg. Place on baking sheet and sprinkle with salt.



  7. Bake for 10 minutes. Flip and bake for an additional 10 minutes. under the tops are brown. Serve warm for best taste. Can be reheated.
