These are really easy to make and taste great! They can be made in regular or whole wheat and you can make it low-fat by sautÃ©ing the mushrooms and onions in cooking spray instead of oil and using low-fat cheese. You can make them large if serving as a main course for a dairy meal, or make them mini for a Chanuka party.
1 batch whole wheat or regular pizza dough
1 lb baby bella mushrooms, cut into medium-sized chunks
1 onion, diced
1 pinch salt
1 pinch black pepper
1 Tbsp olive oil [can substitute cooking spray]
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup marinara sauce
1 egg, for glazing
Preheat oven to 375.
Heat up oil in a pan. When it's hot, add onions and mushrooms. Saute until mushrooms are soft and onions look golden. Sprinkle in salt and pepper.
Roll out dough into small circles. Spread each circle with marinara sauce. Add some onions and mushrooms and top with mozzarella. Fold over and seal closed.
Brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle leftover sauteed onion on top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes on 375.
