If you follow the directions precisely, you will end up with cookies that look like they came from the bakery. You will have to ice the cookies carefully to get the perfect black and white look. If you'd like you can double the amount of white icing, add a few drops of blue/pink food coloring. Perfect for a simcha!

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 cup margarine










  • ⅔ cup sugar










  • 2 eggs










  • 2 tsp vanilla










  • 1 tsp salt










  • 2 cup flour










  • - white icing










  • 1 cup confectionary sugar










  • ½ tsp vanilla










  • 1 Tbsp oil










  • 1 drop of lemon juice










  • 2 Tbsp hot water










  • - chocolate icing










  • ¾ cup confectionary sugar










  • 1 Tbsp oil










  • 4 Tbsp cocoa










  • 2 Tbsp hot water










  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.



  2. Cream margarine and sugar.



  3. Add eggs and vanilla.



  4. Slowly mix in salt and flour until well combined.



  5. Chill dough in the fridge for an hour. (If you are short on time, you can freeze in for 10-15 minutes instead.)



  6. Roll cookies in 1 inch ball, press down slightly and bake for 10-15. Be careful not to overbake, the cookies should be light colored and not browned.



  7. While the cookies are baking prepare the icing.



  8. For the white icing mix together, confectionary sugar, vanila, oil and lemon juice. Slowly add the hot water and mix until smooth.



  9. Prepare the chocolate icing: mix together confectionary sugar, oil and cocoa. Sowly add hot water until smooth.



  10. After the cookies cool (do not ice the cookies while hot) ice half of each cookie with the white icing using a narrow spatula. Be careful not to use too much icing.



  11. Ice the other half of each cookie with the chocolate icing. Be careful not to touch the icing until it sets.
