This is my mother's favorite go-to dessert! It's simple to make and wows guests with it's stunning presentation! Serve these sticks aside sorbet, ice cream, or on it's own sprinkle with confectioners sugar! You can also stand these up in a vase, wrap a ribbon and viola! A delightful gift! Just a word to the wise - hide these deep in the freezer if you don't want anyone to touch them!
apprx 36 pieces
1 package flaky dough
- oil, for smearing
1 cup sugar
¼ cup confectioner's sugar
½ cup cocoa
1 Tbsp coffee
½ Tbsp vanilla sugar
In a small bowl, combine all filling ingredients.
Roll out the flaky dough into a thin rectangle, approximately 12 X 18 inches long. Smear oil over dough and sprinkle with the filling mixture.
Fold dough over in half (from top to bottom - so now you have a rectangle that's apprx 6 X 18 inches). Cut 1/2 inch strips. Twist each strip and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or silipat.
Bake at 350 F for 15 - 18 minutes or until golden.
Serving Suggestion: Serve alongside three scoops of sorbet and sprinkle pomegranate arils. Enjoy!
