This barbecue sauce is sweet and tangy and perfect for any time you need barbeque sauce. Worcestershire sauce without fish is widely available in all kosher supermarkets. You can double or triple the recipe.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 cup ketchup










  • ½ cup apple cider vinegar or vinegar










  • ½ cup brown sugar










  • 1 Tbsp mustard










  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce (non fish variety)










  • 1 Tbsp hot sauce










  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed










  • 1-2 tsp black pepper










  • - OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:










  • ½ cup hot sauce (optional for hot and spicy)










  • ½ cup bourbon










  • ¼ cup spice rub of choice to impart flavor*










  1. *ex. Add jerk rub to sauce for a Caribbean flavor profile.



  2. Cook in small saucepan, serve warm as a dipping sauce or a glaze.



  3. Add hot sauce for a spicy barbecue sauce



  4. Add bourbon or whiskey for a bourbon barbecue sauce. While on stove, pour whiskey or bourbon, light sauce with a lighter, within a minute fire will burn out.
