Imitation gefilte fish. It tastes so similar you would never know the difference. This is my grandmothers recipes, and I dont know how much it yields.

INGREDIENTS













  • - Patties:










  • 3 lb ground turkey










  • 1 lb ground chicken










  • 2 cooked potatoes










  • 2 carrots, peeled and grated










  • 1 onion, minced










  • 1 parsnip, peeled and grated










  • ¾ cup sugar










  • 1 Tbsp salt










  • 4 eggs










  • ½ cup oil










  • 1 tsp pepper










  • - Cooking Liquid:










  • 2 onions, sliced










  • 3 carrots, sliced










  • 5 whole peppercorns










  • 1 cup sugar










  1. Knead all ingredients for the patties together until thoroughly combined. Refrigerate for 1 hour.



  2. Then, in a large pot, add onions, carrots, peppercorns, and sugar. Fill pot with water and bring to a boil over high heat.



  3. With wet hands, form balls or patties and drop into the boiling water. Cook covered for 2 ½ to 3 hours.

You have no idea how happy you made me & my family. I vividly remember making these with my Grandmother. She made them because I did not like gefilte fish. The only difference is she used only ground chicken breasts (which she ground the chicken herself). Over the years I tried to remember the ingredients she used. I almost flipped when I looked at your recipe. I made the Falsche fish this weekend and they were fantastic! I can't thank you enough.
