Really pretty pears in a wine sauce. Can be served as an appetizer or dessert.
(For a quick cheat you can use canned pears, but it doesn't taste as good)
6 pears, peeled, cored and sliced in half downards
¾ cup red wine
⅓ cup sugar
- pinch cinnamon
1 slice lemon (optional)
Mix the wine, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and lemon in the pot. Add the pears. Add water to just cover the pears.
Simmer on a medium low heat until the pears are tender.
Remove the cloves and lemon before serving.
