I got this recipe from my cousin as a Shavous recipe but its such a hit you can make it all year round.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 package of flaky dough










  • - CHEESE MIXTURE:










  • 8 oz whipped cream cheese










  • ½ cup sugar










  • 1 egg yolk










  • ½ Tbsp vanilla sugar










  • - NUT MIXTURE:










  • 1 cup slivered almonds










  • 1 cup sugar










  • 1 Tbsp vanilla sugar










  1. Divide flaky dough into 2 parts. Roll out each part to a 8x18 inch rectangle. Refrigerate for 1/2 hour.



  2. Combine cheese mixture and nut mixture separately. Smear half the cheese mixture on one dough. Sprinkle half the nut mixture on top of cheese mixture.



  3. Place the second dough on top of the first and repeat instructions. (The order- dough, cheese, nut, dough, cheese, nut)



  4. Cut thin and long stripes (from the short side). Take two end twist to form a twist and then form pretzels.



  5. Bake for 20 minutes on 350 -watch pretzels carefully they shouldn't burn.



  6. Freeze well. Serve at room temperature or cold with confectioner's sugar sprinkled on top.

I made a huge spread of dairy food and this was everyones favorite. You need to make sure to cut the strips very thin. And I left them as sticks.

OOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!!! These are absolutely awesome!! I was just as lazy as Cook Mama and left some as long rods. I was pleasently surprised at how pretty they looked standing upright in a glass jar.

This is one fantastic recipe and everyone loved it. I was too lazy to form all of them into pretzels, so the last couple of pieces I simply twisted each side and kept them as long sticks; tasted and looked great. Will be making these often.

These pretzels get eaten up as you lay them on a plate they are so heaven i crave them every minute of every day!!!!!!!!
