Everytime my husband would bring me home a hot dog I'd request the deli's coleslaw to go with it. My coleslaw never turned out quite as good. One day - with my husbands helped I finally tweaked my recipe and I finally had my deli coleslaw how I liked it!
Just a note: this recipe tastes even better when you use fresh cabbage. It's easy to check with a lightbox, much cheaper, and the taste of the bagged cabbage just can't compare.

INGREDIENTS













  • 1 coleslaw mix OR ½ head cabbage shredded










  • 6 Tbsp mayonnaise










  • ½ cup sugar










  • ⅛ cup vinegar










  • ⅛ cup lemon juice










  • ¾ cup water










  • 1 pinch black pepper to taste










  1. Mix all ingredients and let it sit for at least an hour before serving.



  2. Enjoy!

Basic Coleslaw

Looks good, but please give real amounts -- 1 coleslaw mix (and recommendation of using fresh cabbage) just doesn't do it for those of us who cannot buy packaged vegies. HOW MUCH cabbage?

Sorry, 1/2 a head of cabbage shredded is what I do. The recipe has now been corrected.
