- Last Friday, when I passed the threshold of Wegmans, I saw that blueberry had arrived--and that I was going to make this for dessert that night. I hate pareve ice cream and usually refuse to buy or eat it. EWWW. But I had to this week to make Leah's dessert! I debated which brand to buy. One brand I knew tasted better, but they didn't make a plain vanilla--and I knew a vanilla with chocolate bits in it just wouldnt go. So I bought a brand I knew wouldnt taste good--hoping that the blueberry sauce and crisp would disguise the taste. It didn't. So while the recipe is great, next time, if I make this for Friday night, I'd make my own ice cream. Otherwise, I'd save it for a dairy meal and use real ice cream.
- I made these (I never ever ever make kugel), because I thought it was something my kids would actually eat (ages, 5,4,2,newborn...well not the newborn). If this was in a casserole they would not touch it. But they loved it, and finished them all up. I also made a healthy all-zucchini version with egg white, no oil, plus fresh basil and oregano and it was also delicious. Fun way to eat veggies.
- I didn't measure, and used almonds instead of pecans, but this is a great crunchy mix. After the margarine melted, I pressed it into the Pyrex like a crust and continued baking. Once it cooled, I spread the pareve ice cream on top (just a rich's whip version) and froze for an ice cream pie.

I will have one soon.
I just got an ice cream machine and am still trying to perfect "vanilla." But my sister-in-laws have been making ice cream with their machines for awhile now, and they gave me some tips and recipes over the wkend.
