I like veggies with dip... not so satisfying but when you need to feel your mouth munching on something... baby carrots are great. |

This is an ongoing issue for me. I have settled on a few snacks that really work for me & switch them out when I tire of them. The one that works most often is: 12 raw almonds. I buy a big bag and put them in little snack ziplocs. I keep one in my purse at all times. The protein in the nuts staves hunger, but I can't eat more than that for the calorie count. Sugar-free, fat-free instant pudding made in individual portions. Jello-brand has several pareve mixes that I mix with cholev yisrael skim milk--it's only 70 calories a serving. If I'm feeling fancy, I crumble a graham cracker on it and pretend it's pie. Roasted or pickled baby carrots. The raw ones just get too crunchy for me. (I lost 60 pounds a year ago--in one year by eating like this.) |

Knaidel,
Veggies definately seems like a cool idea!! I will try something like peppers or grape tomatoes since I hate hearing my workmate munching on those crunchy baby carrots. (that's quite unfair, isn't it? It's a public place after all!) |

Aidelk,
Your ideas seem to be great!
If I may ask, how did you get those 60 pounds off yourself?
I wish I could lose atleast 10 pounds!!!
Thanks! |

Short answer: A treadmill & a Biggest Loser cookbook. (I had never heard of Biggest Loser until I got on Twitter!). For the first month or so, I journaled everything I ate (except for Shabbos & Yontif). It's tedious, but it works. I ate 1200 calories a day and got on the treadmill almost every day. It's hard work, and you have to want to do it. I continue to read a lot about weight loss because I really don't want to gain it back! Once I had lost about 20 pounds, the compliments were encouraging and motivating. I do lots of silly little "tricks." I chew a lot of sugarless gum, especially when I'm cooking, so I won't sample. I try to have something small to eat every three hours or so--so I don't get over-hungry. It's not easy, but if I can do it, you can do it! |

PS--Anyone who is interested...Biggest Loser cookbooks are NOT kosher. They are adaptable, though. I bought used ones at Thriftbooks.com for much less than new ones cost. |
